Military Support program (MSP)
The Connecticut DMHAS Military Support program (MSP) is looking for part-time contractual licensed clinician to work with assigned CT National Guard Units. MSP embedded clinicians are civilians who have answered the call to serve our CT Army and Air force National Guard citizen soldiers and their families. The embedded clinicians provide:
- On site supportive counseling during CT National Guard, drill weekends with occasional follow up for soldiers who need outside referrals.
- Trainings on behavioral health topics as requested by individual units.
- Onsite support during CT National Guard family events.
The Embedded Clinician Program began in 2009 to provide an onsite monthly civilian point of contact for accessing behavioral health services and community resources. The program is funded by CT DMHAS and administered by Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc.
Embedded Clinicians are licensed professionals: (Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage and family Therapists, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, and Licensed Counselors) who are familiar with deployment health issues and the stresses of transitions common to military service members and their families.
Training to orient the clinician to the structure of the CT National Guard is provided by MSP, the CTARNG Behavioral Health Team and unit leadership. Clinicians must have knowledge about military culture with military experience preferred.
